‘BSNL’s Next Generation leap spurred growth’

 With the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) registering more subscribers, its Chief General Manager (Andhra Pradesh) A.P. Rao attributed the growth in numbers to the adoption of newer technologies and attractive tariffs.

Addressing reporters here on Thursday, he said the landline service received mores subscribers as the company moved to the Next Generation Network (NGN). “The pending three lakh landline connections in Andhra Pradesh will soon be migrated to the network, so as to offer the best of the services including audio conferencing,” he said.

Tie-up in 150 countries

Of the 47,000 Wi-Fi hotspots, which would provide 4G speed and above, planned, 1,492 would be set up in A.P. this year. The BSNL tied up with operators in 150 countries, offering benefit to tourists, he added.
Mr. Rao said Chittoor district stood fourth in the State in terms of data usage.
The Mobile Switching Centre (MSC) commissioned by him here on Wednesday would ensure 4G in rural areas, he said
The MSC would soon be connected with Kadapa and Nellore districts to clear network-related glitches. In Chittoor district, 206 2G cell towers and 116 3G would be upgraded with Nokia-Siemens equipment within a month, he added.
