नई दिल्ली। सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की दूरसंचार कंपनी भारत संचार निगम लिमिटेड ने अपने कर्मचारियों के लिए स्वैच्छिक सेवानिवृत्ति योजना (VRS) पेश की है। कंपनी को उम्मीद है कि इस योजना का लाभ 70,000 से 80,000 कर्मचारी उठाएंगे और इससे वेतन मद में करीब 7,000 करोड़ रुपये की बचत होगी।

BSNL, MTNL merger: Voluntary retirement to be expedited; telecom minister to monitor progress

Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has asked government-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) to implement voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) guidelines and implement them in a proactive manner. Prasad also asked the telecom operators to monetise assets in a time-bound manner and stated that they have to be more aggressive in the telecom market.

Within days of the state-run telecom operator BSNL opening its voluntary retirement scheme (VRS), over 18,400 employees have opted for it. The loss-making PSU had rolled out the scheme for its employees, following the Union Cabinet nod to a nearly ₹70,000 crore revival package for BSNL and MTNL last month. This included ₹30,000 crore for VRS for the two firms.
