But it looks like that BSNL has heard the feedback regarding the charges for the missed call tariffs and the charges for the same has been reduced to Rs 15/month from Rs 30/month.

Reliance Jio strikes a pact with BSNL for leasing its towers, a good move ?

Reliance Jio Infocomm has signed a pact with the Government owned BSNL allowing them to lease out 4000 mobile towers. BSNL will be charging flat Rs 38,000 per month for a Ground based Tower. The charges for the roof based tower will be Rs 24,900. Additionally it is also said that BSNL is ready to toss in some discounts if RJIL commits to leasing a bulk of 1500 towers.

Department of Telecom finally allots the 1,800 MHz spectrum bands auctioned this year

The telecom department has finally completed allotting a major part of the 1,800 MHz spectrum it auctioned earlier this year.  Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, Reliance Jio Infocomm and Uninor were the companies that won it. Bharti Airtel is awaiting allocation of the more efficient 900 MHz spectrum secured in Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. On the other hand, Vodafone has been allocated a portion of the 900 MHz spectrum it won.

DoT to ensure un-disrupted services in the event of Cyclone Nilofar

Cyclone Nilofar, categorised as “severe” by weather forecasters, is expected to hit the western state of Gujarat during the “next 24-48 hours”.
Department of Telecom (DoT) has warned various operators about the services in the targeted areas viz districts of Kutch, Jamnagar, Junagarh and Porbandar and advised them to share infrastructure through intra-circle roaming arrangements for 15 days. DoT also advised operators to set up call center in Gujarat with helpline number 1948 where people could call to trace missing persons and other services.

Telecom regulator expressed serious concerns on DoT for delay in spectrum allocation

Telecom regulator TRAI has expressed serious concerns over the delay in allocating spectrum to mobile operators that had won airwaves in the auctions held in February.
TRAI has said the delay will impact 20 million subscribers in Delhi alone as the operators do not have enough time to swap from the existing frequencies to the fresh band.
Mobile licences issued in 1994 for Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata are set to expire in November this year. Barring Loop Mobile, the other players had managed to win fresh spectrum in the auctions held in February, which will allow them to continue services for another 20 years.

DOPT’s DPC Norms Guidelines are not applicable to Autonomous Bodies, PSUs, Trusts or Bank

In a reply to a question raised in Parliament Ministry of Personnel clarified that the DPC Norms Guidelines Prescribed by DOPT for Central Government Civilian Employees are not applicable to Autonomous Bodies, PSUs, Trusts or Bank. Further it has been stated in the reply that Public Sector Banks and Public Sector Insurance Companies are having their own promotion policies duly approved by their Boards. And the Public Sector Undertakings are concerned, the promotion policies in respect of posts below Board level are decided by the respective Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) as per their HR policy
