 In good news for prepaid users in India, the government-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced the launch of a new prepaid mobile plan First Recharge Coupon (FRC) Rs 249 with true unlimited voice calls, unlimited data 2GB/Day & 100 free SMS/Day for 60 days.

BSNL 4G expansion to take time as equipment order not given yet

 BSNL subscribers waiting for faster wireless connectivity may have to wait for a year or more, as the government today clarified that the state-owned telecom operator has not given orders for 4G equipment for its much-delayed network expansion.

Nearly 11 years after 3G and 4G spectrum was first handed over to the company, BSNL is yet to roll out 4G services in most of its license areas.

BSNL launches Bharat Air Fibre Service for rural customers in Dakshina Kannada

 The public sector undertaking Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has launched ‘Bharat Air Fibre Services’ to benefit rural customers in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of coastal Karnataka.

Addressing the media in Mangaluru on Friday, Ravi GR, Principal General Manager of Dakshina Kannada Telecom District, said ss of now two villages in Dakshina Kannada district – Doddatota and Kamila – have got this service. More villages from Bantwal and Vittal regions will be covered under this service soon, he said.

BSNL Rs 1999 annual prepaid plan giving 30 days extra validity till March 31, here is what it offers

 Government-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is giving 30 days additional validity with its Rs 1999 prepaid plan for a promotional period. This plan offers 365 days validity on a regular basis, but offer it will offer 30 days of additional validity and will give a total of 395 days of validity. The additional validity offer is promotional and will be available till March 31, 2021. BSNL has also introduced the first recharge coupons priced at Rs 47 and Rs 249 in this promotional period which offer a great deal of benefits. The development was first noted by Kerala Telecom.

BSNL seeks to float new 4G open tender: Report

 NEW DELHI: Expressing inability to meet the 4G tender requirements, state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has proposed new bidding options including floating of a new tender with commercial options which will pave way for open bidding and the upgradation of more than 49,000, including with Chinese ZTE, Financial Express reported.

Fix the PSU strategy: PSUs don’t even have the requisite independent directors

 Whether the government is able to successfully execute its aggressive privatisation plan—all but a small number of PSUs are to be privatised— remains to be seen, but what is clear is that PSUs are in all manner of trouble. In the case of BSNL, for instance, this newspaper reported, it has been almost a year since the government first forced the telecom PSU to cancel its 4G tender—to prevent Chinese suppliers from bidding for it—but there is still no clarity on how long it will take BSNL to get the network running.

Want a free SIM card? BSNL offering free 4G SIM card with Rs 75 Plan till March 31

 BSNL has started giving a free 4G SIM card with new broadband and landline connections and it will be valid till March 31, 2021. Last week, this went live across Kerala and Tamil Nadu circles.

With this offer, the customers availing a new BSNL Broadband or Landline connection will get a free 4G SIM card with bundled Plan Voucher of Rs 75 and all the other BSNL Bharat Fiber, Broadband and landline plans will be part of this offer. The Rs 75 plan will include 100 minutes of free voice calls and 2GB of data for 60 days. 

Govt always makes efforts to revive PSUs that can be revived: Javadekar in Lok Sabha

 New Delhi, Mar 16 (PTI) Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises Prakash Javadekar on Tuesday said the government always makes efforts to revive public sector undertakings that can be revived.

During the Question Hour in Lok Sabha, Javadekar said the effort always is to utilise full capacity of PSUs.
