BSNL Announcement: Pre-paid STD charges reduced to 35 Paise per minute!

BSNL has announced a new concession for its customers on pre-paid mode.
Under the new special scheme STV 84, concession is offered for all STD calls.
If the customer buys the pre-paid special voucher for Rs. 84/-, STD calls will be charged at 35 Paise per minute. This voucher is valid for 84 days.

Department of Telecommunications wants all Machine-to-Machine servers based in India

A panel under the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has recommended that all the application servers and gateways that are used for machine-to-machine (M2M) services, must be located in India. The panel has suggested so on the grounds of national security. The DoT panel has also recommended that M2M service providers (MSPs) should be jointly governed under the regulations of the specific industry vertical where such M2M services are deployed along with DoT.

BSNL has some good news in store as IT and Telecom Minister Mr. Ravi Shanker Prasad has announced that the Government would be giving out incentives to BSNL and MTNL in a bid to help it revive. TRAI to notify new norms on call drops by next year, will it make any difference ?

“Hello, are you there?” We frequently fave call drops and with no standard definition of a dropped call the telecom regulator, Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is likely to issue new regulations and penalties on the same by early 2015.
It is reported that there would be higher penalty for telecom operators which are found offering inefficient services leading to call drops. The calls are dropped due to the lack of frequency spectrum and base transceiver stations, which are inadequate at present to cater to the growing mobile subscriber base in India,” according to the industry reports.

MTNL announce new schemes on Good Governance Day

As part of Good Governance Day celebrations, telecom minister Ravi Shankar Prasad today announced new schemes and services for Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) subscribers in Delhi and Mumbai.

Under this plan, MTNL prepaid subscribers can pair their mobile or landline to make calls at reduced rate of 20p/min. The paired number should be an MTNL number within the city. Call rates to other network local and STD calls will at a reduced rate of 40p/min and 50p/min. On activation of the plan subscribers will also get 100 minutes of local calls to MNTL network and 200MB data for the first month.

The IDA rate revision is based on All India Consumer Price Index. After Second Pay Revision w.e.f. 1.1.2007, the base index has also been revised to 1.1.2007, which is 126.33
