BSNL 'revamps' postpaid plans, offers 100 SMS per day

State-owned telecom operator Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has reportedly increased the number of SMS in a pack for its users.

According to a report by TelecomTalk, BSNL has modified the number of SMS in the plans for Rs 399 and above. The plans above Rs 399 will offer 100 SMS per day for the total validity period of the plan and the plans below Rs 399 will offer 100 SMS for the entire validity period. Readers must note that it is only for post-paid users.


The report further states that the new benefits are only available in Chennai and Tamil Nadu telecom circles as for now. Active since August 1, these SMS benefits are said to come to other telecom circles too.



BSNL has been working on revamping many of its plans since July to keep up with the competition from telecom operators including Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea.



BSNL's revamp spree



Recently, it also launched a new entry-level prepaid plan which is priced at Rs 27, offering data as well as voice calling benefits for prepaid customers. The plan offers 1GB 2G/3G data with a validity of 7 days and all circles have allegedly been instructed to implement it before August 6. Besides data, the plan is also said to offer unlimited voice calls and 300 SMS for the validity period.



Also, earlier this month, BSNL also launched a new plan broadband users in the Kerala circle, named Fibro BBG ULD 995 offering 2Mbps FUP speed. This plan comes with 200GB limited data at a speed of 20Mbps for Rs 995. The plan is said to be valid for 90 days as it a promotional plan. A TelecomTalk report says that the plan includes free custom email ID with 1GB of storage.
