BSNL extends broadband services contract with UTStarcom for three years

NEW DELHI: State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Thursday extended its contract by three years with telecom infrastructure provider UTStarcom for broadband and fixed line network transformation.

"This is an extension order for maintenance of BSNL broadband services with UTStarcom supplied products and it reinforces the strength of UTStarcom's advanced efficient and reliable broadband infrastructure solutions," UTStarcom in a statement said. No financial details were provided.

Dear Editor: I would like to share my experience with BSNL telecoms in my bid to get a a new telephone connection. It has now almost been a year since I had applied for a land line plus broadband connection.Repeated attempt to know why there was delay, was responded with a blunt statement that there was no cable,even though it doesn't require more resources  as my neighbors on all three sides have a BSNL connection.

Ill equipped BSNL struggles in Goa

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited's (BSNL) Goa is ill equipped to provide quality broadband and fixed landline service due to shortage of equipment.

"We have no equipment, our instruments are old, cables are old and we have to keep calling Mumbai and Delhi for everything," a local BSNL official in charge of new connections said.

The public sector telecom operator Bharatiya Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has recorded a steep fall in its wireless (mobile) subscriber base in Madhya Pradesh, data from Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has revealed.

According to TRAI subscriber base data for February 2015, BSNL’s wireless subscriber base in MP circle has come down to 32.21 lakh from 38.07 lakh in January 2015.

However, the euphoria of netizens was shortlived, as the connection stopped working shortly after it was launched. Students, who came to the Tank Bund to access the WiFi connection on Wednesday, had to return home disappointed.

People protest against poor BSNL service

UDHAMPUR, May 6: Up in arms against poor BSNL service in the area, residents of Mand Tikri held a strong protest demonstration, here today.


Led by Sarpanch West Mand and Block president JKNPP, the protesting people raised slogans against BSNL and demanded improvement in the signal strength, for quality service.

Sabotage, old equipment reasons for shoddy BSNL service: Workers

PANAJI: The recent network outage across parts of North Goa has put the spotlight back on Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited's (BSNL) shoddy services, something that even members of the Lok Sabha noticed on Wednesday.
Broadband services and phone lines were down along the Candolim-Baga belt, Bambolim, Porvorim and Mapusa after a rival telecom company dug up BSNL cables and allegedly cut them while laying their own lines, prompting BSNL to lodge a complaint against the culprits at Porvorim police station.
