 State-run telecom company MTNL today said that it has received a letter from the government which details the revival plan of the company. Earlier this month, the Union Cabinet had approved merger of loss-making telecom firms BSNL and MTNL as part of a revival package that includes raising sovereign bonds, monetising assets and voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for employees.

MTNL gives details of VRS package under merger with BSNL

State-owned telecom operator Mahanagar Telefone Nigam Ltd or MTNL has released details of the voluntary retirement scheme or VRS that will be available to its employees as part of its merger with BSNL.
The company said the VRS has been based on the ‘Gujarat Model’. Under this model, employees will get a sum equal to 35 days of salary for each year of completed service, plus 25 days worth of salary for each year of service left till retirement.

BSNL Offering 6 Paise Cashback Per Voice Call

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has rolled out a new offer for its broadband customers. Under this offer, BSNL is providing 6 paise cashback for making calls through its wireline and broadband services. According to the information, BSNL will credit 6 paise cashback if a customer is making calls for five minutes.

Telecom consumer body seeks removal of IUC on mobile calls

NEW DELHI: A telecom consumers' body has sought removal of 6 paise interconnection usage charge (IUC) from January 1 next year as it deprives weaker sections of the society of new age services and better experience.

Trai had proposed to move from the current IUC regime to the BAK (bill and keep) regime where no operator will charge for mobile call transmission, from January 1, 2020.
