BSNL-Inmarsat Satellite Phone Services Set to Take Off

Soon, India will get satellite-based telecom services with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd signing a deal with London-based Inmarsat. BSNL has already taken the required licence from the Department of Telecom and identified Ghaziabad for locating the satellite gateway. The gateway will be built at a cost of USD8 million.

Through this deal, BSNL will be able to offer satellite-based broadband services using Inmarsat technologies in remote areas of the country. BSNL will also be able to meet the needs of the Defence forces.

BSNL hikes Broadband tariff of select plans, to be effective December 1, 2014

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) today announced major changes to be effective mostly from 1-12-2014. It has hiked tariffs of some broadband plans popular in rural as well as urban areas.

BSNL  is hiking FMC of its two rural plans BBG Rural combo 250 and BB Home Rural combo UL 550 by Rs 100 so new FMC of these two plans will be Rs 350 and Rs 650 respectively.

The FMC of BBG 275 is hiked by Rs 100 so now customers have to pay new FMC of Rs 375 starting 1-12-2014.

BSNL Announces Best WiFi Plans with Unlimited Internet at Varanasi

Being one of the world’s biggest tourism destination, Varanasi, requires high speed data plans for short periods. Keeping the customer’s requirements in mind, BSNL announced Unlimited Internet, with Limited Period WiFi plans starting at Rs.20 only at Major Ghats of Varanasi.

As the market witnessed a growth of 6.32 million during September 2014, and also there was increase in telephone connections also of around 6.34 million connections. In total in India we are having around 958.2 telephone connections as on September 2014, but as per this new report BSNL is losing its market share in wireless telephony

BSNL, the major telecom giant, has got negative growth of 1 million telephone connections, along with that there was also increase in the Broadband Connections of around 0.03 million as of Aug 2014. As on date the total Broadband Connections in India is around 15.05 million.

Rs 11,000 crore Loan to BSNL by DOT
