EPFO makes it mandatory to provide workers’ bank account numbers

Retirement fund body EPFO made it mandatory for firms to provide their employees’ bank account numbers with IFSC code of bank branch to facilitate allotment of universal PF account number and payment to its subscribers.
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation headquarters has asked its over 120 field offices to seek the core banking account numbers with IFSC code of bank branch for seeding the same with the portable Universal PF Account Number (UAN).

Subject;- Guidelines regarding handling of complaints in Ministries/Departments.
The undersigned is directed to say that the instructions regarding dealing with anonymous and pseudonymous complaints as contained in this Department’s CM No. 321/4/91-AVD.III, dated 29th September, 1992 and as reiterated vide DOP&T’s OM No. 371/38/97-AVD.III, dated 3/11/1997, being at variance with instructions issued by CVC in this regard vide circular No.3(V)/99/2 dated 29th June, 1999, No. 98/DSP/9, dated 31st January, 2002 and llth October, 2002, had been receiving the attention of the Government for the past some time.

Mobile connectivity: Norms for setting up telecom towers near borders eased


In a move aimed at strengthening mobile connectivity in areas close to the country’s international border, a licence condition that barred telecom service providers from installing Base Trans-receive Stations (BTS) within 10 kms of the international border has been relaxed.

New 55.4 lakh GSM users added in August, says COAI

GSM-based telecom players added 55.4 lakh subscribers in August to take the total user base to 74.99 crore, industry body COAI said today.
The GSM subscriber base stood at 74.44 crore at the end of July 2014, the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) said. COAI, which represents telecom players like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular, said the data does not include GSM subscriber number of Reliance Communications and Tata Teleservices.

Telecom and IT Minister asks Vishal Sikka to make ‘Digital India project’ a success

As the ambitious Digital India programme is rolled out, Telecom and IT Minister yesterday enlisted the support of Vishal Sikka, head of India’s second-largest IT services firm, to help the project succeed.
Sharing the details of the programme with Sikka in Berlin, Prasad asked Infosys to take the lead in contributing to the success of Digital India. The programme includes projects that aim to ensure that government services are available to citizens electronically and people get benefit of the latest information and communication technology.
