MTNL jumps on buzz of possible merger with BSNL

Mahanagar Telephone Nigam jumped 7.49% to Rs 28.70 at 14:48 on on media buzz that the government is studying possible of BSNL and MTNL.
Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was down 18.01 points or 0.06% at 28,426.
The stock surged on heavy volumes. On BSE, so far 22.78 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 8.25 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

BSNL promotes promiscuity, waywardness

Another message reads: "Dil ki baat juban pay laye. Dial kare 5432188, banaye haseen dost. Kare apne dil ki sari baatein. Dar kis baat ka.Sirf Rs 3 me abhi call kare." Another so-called service message merits special mention here. "Title Aaj Koi Bhi Hot Video dekho.Address :wap.59000.in/maverid/nh.jsp?code=OTESNDESM DA5NJQ4." Yet another message reads: Khubsurat din khubsuratratein, kijiye hums kisi bhi waqt, Dil Khol Kar Rangeen Baetein. Dial 5432188 at Rs 3/Mn." Similar words are uttered by pimps in red- light areas of major cities in India.

Rs. 3,785 crore loss for BSNL, Rs. 1,567 crore for MTNL till September

There is no relief for BSNL and MTNL from the losses. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Communications Minister, told the Parliament yesterday (3rd December 2014) that BSNL has recorded a loss of Rs. 3,785 crore and MTNL Rs. 1,567 crore till September 2014 in the present financial year. BSNL has been posting loss for the last four years. The case of MTNL is not different.
