Eight private telecom operators participate in the upcoming spectrum auction starting March 4

Eight private telecom operators including Airtel, Vodafone, Idea, RCom, Reliance Jio, Tata Docomo, Aircel and Uninor on Monday submitted applications to participate in the upcoming spectrum auction starting March 4. However Sistema Shyam TeleServices (MTS India), BSNL, MTNL and Videocon Telecom are some of mobile service providers, which are not participating in the spectrum auction.
DoT has fixed the pan-India per megahertz reserve price for the 800MHz CDMA band at Rs 3,646 crore; for the 900 MHz band Rs 3,980 crore (excluding Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and J&K); for the 1,800MHz band Rs 2,191 crore (excluding Maharashtra and West Bengal) and for 2,100 MHz Rs 3,705 crore.

BSNL rationalizes validity period of Prepaid Data Packs from 23 Feb 2015

State run telecom PSU BSNL has rationalized its tariffs of Prepaid Data Tariffs. Mostly it has slashed validity period by 1 to 2 days without changing any data benefits. Data STV 39 has reduced validity of 6 days while validity period of 14 days of Data STV 78 is revised to 12 days. Similarly validity period of STV 98 is trimmed from 19 days to 17 days, STV 139 to 19 days , STV 155 to 26 days and STV 176 to 28 days.  But for STV 561,821, 1011 and 1949 validity period have been increased as a promotional offer for a period of 90 days . STV 561 will have a new validity of 60 days while STV 821,1011 and 1949 will come with 90 days validity period. These tariff changes will come into force from 23rd Feb 2015.

Rajouri, Feb 18: India’s largest telecom services provider, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), is giving nightmares to its subscribers in most areas of Rajouri district with mobile connectivity lying snapped in Kotranka and Budhal areas for last seven to eight months. Services of the state owned Telecom Company in Kalakote area also lie disconnected for last couple of weeks.

BSNL to install 246 mobile towers in Naxal-affected areas

RAIPUR: Government-run telecom major BSNL would be installing 246 mobile towers in two phases in the Naxal-affected areas of Chhattisgarh to improve phone connectivity there, an official said. The decision was announced at a meeting of unified command for anti-Naxal operations, chaired by Chief Minister Raman Singh, at the new Mantralaya here today. Construction of roads, rail lines, and other essential infrastructure in the 'left wing extremism' (LWE) areas, anti-Naxal strat implementation of public welfare schemes, etc were discussed in the meeting.
