New Delhi: State-owned telecom firm Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) on Wednesday unveiled India’s first internet telephony service that will allow users to dial any telephone number in India through its mobile app, Wings. This is particularly useful for people who have poor mobile connectivity but have access to a WiFi connection. Earlier, users could make internet calls within mobile apps, but not to telephone or mobile numbers.

BSNL has refreshed its Rs 444 prepaid plan to offer 6GB of daily 3G data and unlimited on-net voice calling facilities for 60 days. The upgraded plan will not be bundled with unlimited off-net voice calling and any SMS benefits according to a report by TelecomTalk. In comparison, earlier the company offered 4GB of daily 3G data for 60 days. BSNL is currently testing out its 4G services in Kerala and will be soon bringing them to other states also.

NEW DELHI: State-run telecom carrier Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. has sought legal opinion to further recover Rs 42 crore from the bankrupt telco Aircel.

“BSNL has already encashed various bank guarantees worth Rs 32.22 crores. We are trying to find legal framework for encashing guarantees kept for other activities such as interconnection usage charge (IUC) and porting,” BSNL Chairman Anupam Shrivastava toldETTelecom

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has increased the daily benefit of prepaid combo plans and 3G Data STVs by 2GB. Users will now get an additional 2GB data above its existing plan. Under this plan, the state-run telecom operator's combo plans of Rs 999, Rs 666, Rs 485, Rs 429 and Rs 186 will offer 2GB daily data. Also, the above benefits will be applicable on the 3G Data STV plans of Rs 448, Rs 444, Rs 333, Rs 349 and Rs 187, said a telecomtalks.info report.

Anil Jain, chief general manager – NGN, Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL), indicated that BSNL will aim to launch 5G services in 2020.
“BSNL would launch 5G services the same day as their launch globally. India would not miss the 5G bus unlike the past instances of global adoption of 3G and 4G,” Anil Jain said at the inaugural edition of the Mobile Device Summit 2018, hosted by industry body The Mobile Association.
