BSNL includes QR Codes on bills to encourage quick online payments

BSNL is encouraging its customers to make payments online. The backbone of India’s telecom industry introduced QR codes on its monthly bills sent out to customers this month in a bid to push users to make payments quickly. If you are one of those customers who pay their BSNL bills by going to exchanges, you may find this move very friendly.
BSNL’s QR codes on bills consist of the customers information such as the Account number, bill date, payment due date, total charges payable, circle data and other meta data to make sure every customer is redirected to his own bills payment page.
These QR codes can be scanned using any QR code scanning app available on your favourite app store. Upon scanning the code successfully, users will be given the option to open the payment page to make the payment online. Payments can be made using debit cards, credit cards or via netbanking.
Currently, this service is available only in Kerala. However, looking at how innovative it is, it will probably be made available in other circles as well. Hopefully BSNL customers make use of this nice feature that the company has rolled out.
