93,000 cases disposed of at lok adalats in state

At least 93,477 pre-litigation and 2,931 post-litigation cases were disposed of following mutual compromise at the lok adalats organised in the Patna high court, district courts and subdivisional courts of Bihar on Saturday. According to Bihar State Legal Services Authority's member-secretary Om Prakash, the lok adalats were organised under the aegis of National Legal Services Authority.

PMC to buy fogging machines: The Patna Municipal Corporation's empowered standing committee on Saturday proposed purchase of 16 fogging machines. The proposal will be sent to the urban development and housing department. The committee also discussed issues related to door-to-door garbage collection and garbage collection during night. It directed PMC officials to organize a camp in every ward to help people file their property tax. The committee approved 212 appointments on compassionate ground.

Bihar girl wins ranking tennis final: Assam's Chandra Shekhar Mohanty defeated UP's Himanshu Kumar 3-6, 6-0, 6-1 in the boys' final while Bihar's Aditi Shreya beat state-mate Sofia Khan 6-1, 6-1 in the girls' final of 12th Deshratna Dr Rajendra Prasad Memorial All India Ranking Tennis Championships at the Pataliputra Colony courts on Saturday. Bihar's Anshumat Srivastava and Assam's Chandra Shekhar Mohanty defeated the pair of Haryana's Dipanshu Garg and Maharashtra's Manvir Singh Randhawa 6-2, 6-4 to win the men's doubles title. UP's Meenu Pandey and Manisha Sahani beat Sofia Khan and Aditi Shreya 3-6, 7-5, 10-7 in the women's doubles final. Bihar Lawn Tennis Association secretary A B Prasad welcomed the guests. Rotary Pataliputra president Sachidanand and secretary Subodh Kumar Jain distributed the prizes. Chief coach Kunal Aikat proposed a vote of thanks.
