Who are responsible for the present situation of BSNL.

Dear friends when I analyzed the reason behind the present situation of BSNL I found many reasons and few of those are as follows.

1.I feel the most harmful reason was the silence of our so called unions and associations leaders when mobile license was distributed to private operators except BSNL(DOT).During those times unions were much more powerful than of now.They could have called for strike for getting license for BSNL(DOT) but unfortunately they didn't do anything rather prefferred to be remain silent.They could have fought upto any extent to provide license to BSNL(DOT) along with private operators so there could be a healthy compettion in the market.There were some kind of nexus between the then Telecom Ministers,beurocrates and private firms.I some times feel our union leaders might be a part of those nexus to be remain silent.

They could have asked the Govt. that you give license to the private firms we have no objection but BSNL( DOT) should also be given license as BSNL (DOT) had all infrastructure to launch mobile service even in rural areas.But nothing happened and they ignored BSNL(DOT) and all private oprrators were given license.They started expanding their network till 2002 when BSNL was allowed to start the same with a delay of about more than 7 years.Our union leaders and all employees were enjoying Government status in DOT and didn't bother about the consequences and the result is infront of us.
Now BSNL is at 5th position so far as number of mobile customer is concerned and monthly new customer addition to our network.
2. Even after 2002 when BSNL launched mobile our higher management fail to grab the market due to lack of aggressiveness in network expansion ,customer care , quality of service and the worst thing was poor HR policy of BSNL.The more surprising fact is the staffs deployed in the marketing in BSNL have zero marketing knowledge.I have experienced this in my last 13 years service in three different areas in two SSAs.The gap between our customer and BSNL is increasing day by day and we are getting disconnected from our customers which is reflected in annual revenue.Only I can say this is a strategic failure of BSNL management and BSNL management have to review all these with effective remedial measures.
3. Our union leaders are more concerned about their individual benefit rather than growrh of BSNL.Their first priority is promotion of their members not the growth of the organisation.Most of the union leaders are of DOT recruited and they have the pensionary benefits So they are enjoying DOT status then why they will be worried about BSNL.When unions called for strike for Save BSNL to draw attention of common man then why they are putting so many issues like pension promotion which I feel the rabbish things they are doing.If you are so much worried about BSNL there should be single point agenda for strike.I think this kind of strike should have been called much before when Profit started declined.
4.If you see the marketing strategy of private operators you will find they are very much focused for aquiring subscriber.BSNL is very much lagging behind them so far as marketing is concerned.Staffs having marketing knowledge and interest in marketing should be deployed in marketing.Unfortunately in BSNL many inefficient staffs who don't know anything about marketing are being posted in marketing.
And same thing happen any new project is to implemented like opening of new BTSs ,new leased line or launching of new service BSNL doesn't take any proactive steps for early launching of services due to lack of co-ordination verious departments like Civil wing,Electrical wing,Telecom Region,HR Marketing etc which needs to be properly coorinated before launching of any service.
5.There should be team in BSNL to analyze the tariffs of all other operators along with our tariff.What I feel many subscriber are not that much comfortable with our tariff package.There should be tariff package for every segment of the people in the society which BSNL is hardly doing.When poor people are not comfortable with our tariff package how can we expect rich people to be comfortable.In many areas our mobile traffic is much less than private operators present in those areas which needs to be analyzed soon and attractive tariff package should be started.I have seen keep BSNL but they make calls from other SIM this is why all most all circles are making loss expect Kerela,J&K and Odisha.Quality of service is also equally important along with tariff.Where private operators have taken IP sites from BSNL when there is any failure their people contact our people with in few minutes but where BSNL has taken IP sites from other operators our people in charge of those sites hardly bother.
6. The last but not the least brand visibility of BSNL is very poor .It is almost negligible.We are lagging much behind the private operators so far as building of brand is concerned.Brand visibility is equally important along with quality services.
Finally I request all BSNL employees please be serious and be focused otherwise we will lose our customer base soon if things will go on like this.BSNL has recently got new dynamic CMD like Sri Anupam Srivastav so we should try to give our best to bring back the lost glory as well as trust of every Indian.
