BSNL Rs.241 Data-only Prepaid Recharge Plan Gets Revised to Offer 75GB Data, 30 Days Validity

With the competition in the telecom industry intensifying, state-owned telecom operator BSNL is feeling the heat of the battle. In a bid to combat this intense competition, the company has come out with a slew of discounts on its tariffs and increased the benefits offered in several plans as well. Now it has once again has revised the deal offered in a  plan, which is the Rs. 241 STV plan.

Promotional offer:

The latest revision in the plan by the state-owned player is in the STV 241 plan. As a part of a promotional offer, the company is maximising the benefits under the plan by a whopping ten times. For those that aren’t aware, the STV 241 plan is a data only plan, meaning there is no voice calling or SMS benefits available for users.
The first change in the plan sees the increase in the plan validity from 28 days to 30 days. The next change is that the plan, which used to offer 7 GB of 2G / 3G mobile data previously, now the same plan, offers a total of 75 GB of mobile data for the validity period.

This amounts to a 2.5 GB of mobile data per day, which is significant enough for the telecom operator to take on both Reliance Jio as well as Bharti Airtel. However, despite the change, there are no additional benefits such as free SMSes or voice calling facilities for users under this plan.

Duration of the Offer:

Since this is a promotional plan, it is available only for a limited period and is valid only between September 10^th and December 5^th, 2018. Users can avail this additional benefits only under this time frame and then the plan would automatically revert to the original benefits it provides.
It is not clear at this stage if BSNL will extend this promotional offer, although it must be noted that the telecom operator will decide this only at the end of the benefit period. A reason for cheer for most BSNL customers is that fact that the state-owned telecom operator has been rather generous in the recent past and has extended several promotional plans and limited time offers for a slightly lengthier period than the original promotional period.
This is also influenced by the demand that the company receives for a said plan. Another drawback in this plan is that it is specific to the Kerala circle only and it isn’t clear at this stage if the telecom operator will extend the plan / promotional offer to other circles/regions.

Another recent revision made by the telecom operator is to its Data STV 198 plan. This plan used to offer users 2.5 GB of mobile data for a validity of 24 days. Now, BSNL has extended the validity of this plan by four days and it now stands at 28 days. However, the data benefit of this plan has been cut short from 2.5GB of mobile data to 2GB of mobile data per day, after the extension of the validity period was announced.

Another data only STV that BSNL is offering is the STV 27, which it has also revised. This plan is again only available for Kerala and offers users 1.5GB of mobile data for short validity period of 3 days now.
