 Despite being well aware that the state-owned telecommunications company Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) is battling for survival amid cutthroat competition posed by private telecom giants such as JIO and Airtel, a committee of technical experts constituted by the Modi government has ‘instructed’ the BSNL to discontinue 2G services.

Sources in the know of the development told National Herald that the so-called ‘instruction’ has come at a time when BSNL is trying hard to revive its fortune by launching 4G services.

Delayed 4G tender: BSNL seeks compensation from govt for revenue loss

(BSNL) is 'deliberately delaying' rolling out fourth generation (4G) network, with both blaming the other for time being taken to offer high speed data services to subscribers, which is leading to continuing revenue and subscriber losses.

Non-investment in 2G network will hurt our revenues: BSNL warns Modi govt

Previously, the same prepaid plan gave 300 minutes of calling benefits. The plan comes for a validity of 24 days. The voice calling benefits include both off-net and on-net calling. Google shuts down cloud project, says no plan to offer cloud services in China

Alphabet Inc's Google said on Wednesday it has shut down its cloud project named "Isolated Region" and added that it was not weighing options to offer its cloud platform in China.
