BSNL launches another long-term plan with 345 days validity at great price but you may not like it

BSNL has been on a launch spree when it comes to prepaid plans with varying validity. The operator, despite going through challenging financial situations, is coming up with aggressive plans to draw more customers to its network. That, along with the upcoming 4G network, is expected to make things work in BSNL's favour. Keeping in line with the trend, BSNL has launched another long-term plan for its prepaid subscribers in the Andhra Pradesh and Telengana circle.

BSNL has now introduced a new long-term plan that costs Rs 1,188. Unlike some of its recent long-term plans, this one offers a validity of 345 days - almost a year. However, it differs vastly with regards to the other form of benefits. The plan is meant for those who mostly prefer lots of call benefits with minimum data.
Under the plan, the biggest benefit the subscriber is entitled to get is unlimited calling to any circle. The plan offers unlimited calling to any number within the country, including Mumbai and Delhi. Along with the calls, the subscribers are also entitled to free 1200 SMSes during the entire duration of the validity.
However, when it comes to data, the plan is not very generous in this regard. Unlike the other recently launched long-term plans, BSNL is only giving 5GB data for the entire validity period. This roughly translates to 14.8MB per day. This is barely enough to browse even a few webpages. It seems that the plan is designed mainly keeping in mind the requirements of feature phone users.
The plan is exempt from the blackout days that other plans have to suffer from. Additionally, this is available under a promotional offer that can be availed for the next 90 days.
Long-term plans are a great way for operators to sort out their revenues. BSNL with its arsenal of long-term plans is trying to appeal to its rural user base. However, compared to long-term plans for its rivals, this plan is at a serious disadvantage when it comes to offering benefits.
While the call benefits are fine, the data allowance is quite low. This could put off those subscribers who prefer having more data. Even for those who don't have much need for data, 5GB in total for almost a year is extremely low. Even feature phone users are relying on data-based apps and services more these days.
