BSNL has been quite aggressive lately in the telecom sector. The state-owned operator may have been in financial trouble lately but that hasn't deterred the company from competing aggressively against the private sector players with appealing prices for its services. This is the reason why BSNL is only operator other than Jio to gain subscribers at a time when others are losing them at a substantial rate. No, in order to keep the momentum going, BSNL has now come up with another appealing prepaid plan.
The new prepaid plan, as Telecom Talk says, is currently restricted to the Chennai and Tamil Nadu circles only. However, it brings a lot of benefits for those subscribers who only want to make calls and have no need for data related service at all.
The plan is called VASANTHAM GOLD - PV 96 and as the name suggests, it costs Rs 96. This is a prepaid plan and will offer a validity of 180 days. In terms of benefits, this BSNL plan offers unlimited free calling to anywhere, except Mumbai and Delhi circles. The subscriber will also get access to 100 free SMSes. However, these freebies will only be available for a period of 21 days. Also, this offer will only be there in the market for 90 days, out of which 10 days have already passed.
If you don't have use for data and want to avoid such a data-friendly plan, this is a prepaid plan that will appeal highly. However, BSNL is currently restricting this plan to the Chennai and Tamil Nadu circles as of now and the chances of this plan coming to other circles are slim. BSNL is also testing its 4G network in these circles.
While this is good for those who only want calls, there are other prepaid plans that offer lots of additional free data. Recently, the company came up with a special offer to club 2.2GB additional data to some of its popular prepaid plans. The offer has been valid on plans starting from Rs 186 and goes up to plans costing Rs 166.
It is to be noted that unlike its rivals, BSNL is still massively relying on its 3G network for high-speed data services and it would be a while before BSNL 4G comes to commercial services as the operator is yet to get spectrum allotment for operating commercially.
