BSNL’s new yearly prepaid plan of 730GB at Rs 1,999 is a reply to its competition

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited has had yearly prepaid plans for a while now, and now it has come up with a new offering to counter its competition. The new plans will offer 730GB data for a year and is priced at Rs 1,999.
This new prepaid plans has been introduced in the Tamil Nadu and Chennai circles initially and offers both voice calling and data for a period of one year from the date of recharge.

Only prepaid subscribers can avail this Combo plan that is priced at Rs 1,999 in the circles that are mentioned above. The Combo plan comes with a daily FUP limit for data that is capped at 2GB which when added up for a time period of 365 days results in a total 730GB benefit. Besides the data the plan offer unlimited voice calls for the active period.

The plan has been introduced on a promotional basis by BSNL and can be availed until September 22, 2018 for now. The free calling facility will not available in the Delhi and Mumbai circle since BSNL does not operate here. The plan also offers 100 SMS per day for the one year period which makes it a total of 36,500 SMS during the whole plan validity period.
BSNL has not yet given any information on whether the Rs 1,999 Combo plan will be made available in the other circles of the country, but users can hope they it might. This price point makes BSNL the sole provider of such a cheap plan.

In comparison Reliance Jio’s plans that costs Rs 1,999 only offers benefit for a period of 180 days. Jio’s plan offers 125GB data without any daily FUP limit, 100 SMS per day and unlimited calling facility with free subscription to its apps and JioTune service. Airtel used to have a Rs 1,999 plan, but it does not anymore.
