The Ongoing tariff war between Airtel and Reliance Jio has now breached the sensitive Rs 50 mark.
In response to Jio’s Rs 49 special recharge plan for data, Airtel too has launched a Rs 49 recharge plan: The purpose and target audience is no doubt different, but the figure of Rs 49 is the same.
It seems, that in coming days, Rs 49 and sub-Rs 50 data plans can turn out into a new frontier for all telecom operators.
Airtel Rs 49 Recharge = 3GB Data!
Airtel has launched a new Rs 49 recharge, which will give 3 GB of data for a day.
This plan seems appropriate for those users, who are want to download movies or watch live streaming of IPL and cricket matches. Whenever a bog boost of data is required, this plan seems good.
But, There Is A Catch!
The catch is that this plan has not been rolled out for all Airtel users. Based on the usage, location and account history, only few Airtel users are being offered this plan.
Users are suggested to recharge this plan only via their MyAirtel app.
When you select data plans for recharge, then Rs 49 plan will appear – Either it will be their old plan which gives just 1GB of data for 28 days, or this new plan, which will give 3 GB of data for 1 day.
Not all users from one location can get this new plan – It will depend on the usage pattern and other details which Airtel hasn’t yet revealed.
Airtel Vs Jio: Comparison
Airtel’s new Rs 49 data plan for 3GB is clearly an attempt to challenge Jio’s dominance in this niche.
In January this year, Reliance Jio unleashed another tariff war, when they offered two sizzling plans:
Rs 49 Plan which gives 1 GB of data for 28 days
Rs 52 Plan which gives 1.05GB data for 7 days, which means 0.15GB per day.
However, Rs 49 plan from Jio is only for Jio Phone users, the same way Airtel’s new Rs 49 plan is only for some users.
The IPL session has clearly triggered this new tariff war, and Vodafone, along with BSNL and Idea will be now forced to offer their own versions of sub-Rs 50 data plans.
