Thiruvananthapuram: Bringing an end to a long-drawn power tussle in BSNL Kerala, L Anatharam has finally assumed office as the chief general manager of the company's telecom circle in the state, an official statement said here on Wednesday.
He took charge after the Supreme Court set aside a Kerala HC order which quashed the telecom major's decision to remove MSS Rao from the post of circle head.
L Anantharam, a 1979 batch ITS official was appointed as the Kerala CGM on September 16. But the day Anantharam joined work, Kerala HC allowed MSS Rao to continue in his office till the Central Administrative Tribunal arrived at a decision on his complaint against his removal. The court had asked the CAT to review its earlier decision against Rao and wanted it to come to arrive at a judgment in two months.
BSNL advised Anantharam against leaving the Kerala circle and as a result, both Anantharam and Rao continued in the same office, though the latter's powers remained only on paper. The telecom company's plea against the HC order was approved by the SC on October 30. Rao was removed from his post on the grounds that he figured in the 'agreed list' of vigilance and anti-corruption wing. tnn
