Minister of State for Communications and Electronics and Information Technology Sanjay Dhotre has said that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is all set to roll out 4 G mobile network and high-speed
internet services in remote areas of the border districts of Uttarakhand. He was speaking at a function in Dehradun yesterday. He said that BSNL is going to install 28 4 G mobile towers in border areas of Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Champavat, and Uttarkashi districts under the universal services obligation project.Mr. Dhotre said that 21 sites have been selected for these 28 towers and that tower installation is in progress in 11 sites. He added that mobile connectivity in these areas will greatly help the defence and paramilitary personnel posted in these areas.
It will also help in safeguarding our international borders. Mr. Dhotre said that following the expansion of telecom network in remote and difficult areas of Uttarakhand, the local people will be able to use high speed 4 G data network to enjoy the benefits of E-services including telemedicine and Tele-education. This will also help in boosting various sectors such as pilgrimage and tourism.
