Best prepaid plans under Rs 150: Unlimited calls, 3G / 4G data, roaming and SMS benefits compared

In the Indian telecom sector, the price vs data war is far from over, and telcos have been constantly refreshing their prepaid plans by adding more benefits. You can now choose between plans that offer only data, ones that offer only calling benefits, or the ones that offer a complete package.
We compared some of the best prepaid plans under Rs 150, and here’s a look at the benefits they offer.

Vodafone Idea

The merger of two telecom giants is finally complete, and it is now a single entity called Vodafone Idea. Yet, both offer different tariff plans to their customers. Starting with Vodafone, there are two plans, one priced at Rs 99 and other priced at Rs 149. The Rs 99 plan offers unlimited voice calls and 28 days validity. However, this plan does not include any data benefits.
The second plan is priced at Rs 149 which offers 2GB 3G / 4G data, and 28 days validity. In terms of calling benefits, users get unlimited local and national calls, but only Vodafone to Vodafone, whereas calling on other numbers is chargeable as per base tariff plan.

Next up is Idea Cellular. The telco has two plans – the first one is priced at Rs 75 that offers 1GB 3G / 4G data and a validity of 28 days. The plan also includes 300 minutes of local and national calling. After the free calling minutes are exhausted, users will be charged as per base tariff plan.
The second plan is priced at Rs 149, which offers 21 days validity. The plan also includes unlimited calling, but there is a catch. There is an FUP of 250 minutes of calling per day, and 1,000 minutes per week. Beyond the free minutes, users will be charged for outgoing calls.

Bharti Airtel

Airtel has two prepaid plans under Rs 150 price bracket. The first plan is priced at Rs 97, which offers 28 days validity, 1Gb 3G / 4G data and 350 minutes of calling, which can be to a local or STD number. The second plan is priced at Rs 149 which offers unlimited local and national calling, unlimited roaming, 28 days validity and 1GB 3G / 4G data daily.

Reliance Jio

Reliance Jio started the telecom war with its highly aggressive plans, and even now, it leads the pack. The affordable plan from Jio is priced at Rs 98 which offers 28 days validity, unlimited calls, unlimited roaming and 2GB 4G data. The other plan is priced at Rs 149, which also offers 28 days validity, unlimited calling, unlimited roaming and 100 free SMS daily. The plan also offers 1.5GB 3G / 4G data daily.

Jio also has two other plans under Rs 150, and they are for JioPhone users. Both plans offer 28 days validity, unlimited calls along with free SMS. The things that vary include data benefits. The Rs 49 plan offers 1GB 4G data throughout the validity, whereas the other plan, priced at Rs 99, offers 500MB 4G data daily.

Lastly, state-run telco BSNL has a plan priced under Rs 100, called ‘data tsunami.’ Priced at Rs 98, the plan offers 1.5GB daily 2G / 3G data, and a validity of 26 days. However, this plan does not include any calling benefits.
