Total wired broadband subs declined 0.18% to 17.9 mn in June

MUMBAI: The total wired broadband subscribers witnessed a 0.18% decline in June to 17.9 million from 17.94 million in May, as per Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) telecom subscription report for June.

As on 30 June, the top five wired broadband service providers were BSNL (9.15 million), Bharti Airtel (2.21 million), Atria Convergence Technologies (1.34 million), MTNL (0.83 million) and Hathway Cable & Datacom (0.75 million).

As per the reports received from 293 operators as compared to 280 operators in the previous month, the number of broadband subscribers increased from 432 million at the end of May to 447.12 million at the end of June with a monthly growth rate of 3.50%.
Top five service providers constituted 97.67% market share of the total broadband subscribers at the end of Jun-18. These service providers were Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (215.26 million), Bharti Airtel (95.31 million), Vodafone (62.86 million), Idea Cellular (42.95 million) and BSNL (20.34 million).

The top five Wireless Broadband Service providers were Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd (215.26 million), Bharti Airtel (93.11 million), Vodafone (62.85 million), Idea Cellular (42.94 million) and BSNL (11.19 million).
