Jio Phone 2 supports Airtel, BSNL, Idea and Vodafone SIM cards: All you need to know

The Jio Phone 2 booking page has gone live and it has highlighted the fact that the Jio Phone 2, which comes with dual-SIM connectivity, will supports Airtel, BSNL, Idea and Vodafone SIM cards. Here's how.

Jio Phone 2 will be going on sale on August 16 in India and while the first Jio Phone 2 flash sale has been scheduled at 12 pm on Thursday, Reliance Jio has also made the booking page for Jio Phone 2 live. The Jio Phone 2 booking page also details the specifications of the 4G-enabled feature phone, out of which, one focuses on its dual SIM compatibility.

For the unknown, the Jio Phone only supports single SIM connectivity and users can only use a Reliance Jio SIM card with the device. However, with the Jio Phone 2, the company is now offering dual-SIM connectivity and this time around, the second SIM slot will let buyers use a connection from any other telecom operator apart from Reliance Jio.

Yes, you read it right. With the Jio Phone 2, you now not necessarily have to be a Reliance Jio subscribers as the feature will support SIM cards from other Indian telcos such as Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, BSNL, Idea etc.

This gives Jio Phone 2 users the liberty of choosing any telecom operator, however, there is a catch. The 4G-enabled Jio Phone 2 will only support 2G connectivity with the secondary SIM card slot. This means that you won't be able to use services of any other operator with 3G or 4G connectivity.

Meanwhile, apart from the dual-SIM support, the Jio Phone 2 also comes with a QWERTY keypad coupled with 4-way navigation key, support for popular apps such as YouTube, Facebook, and WhatsApp. As mentioned above, the Jio Phone 2 will be going on sale via Jio.com on August 16 at 12 pm bearing a price tag of Rs. 2,999.
