Indigenous production of fibre cables to rejuvenate BSNL telecom factories

BSNL telecom factories will be rejuvenated with indigenous production of fibre cables under Make in India concept. Indigenous production of fibre cable will not only maintain existence of telecom factories but will also fulfill requirement of BSNL to stretch fibre cable network in rural areas.
BSNL Madhya Pradesh Telecom Circle Dr G C Pandey, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, informed that a project is underway to start production of fibre cable in BSNL telecom factories.

Preparations are underway with higher authorities and production of fibre cable is likely to be started in telecom factories in next one-and-half year.
Indigenous production of fibre cable in telecom factories will meet a major demand and bring pace in development of telecom sector. Madhya Pradesh Telecom Circle requires more than 5,000 kilometres fibre cable to stretch advanced telecom services throughout the State.

Dr Pandey said that even after rapid growth of telecom industries in India, the country still relies on import of fibre cable to strengthen telecommunication sector. A joint venture company of Central and State Government is producing fibre cable in southern part of India. Indigenous production of fibre cable will not only change destiny of telecom sector but also curtail a major portion of budget in its import. Two of the seven telecom factories are situated in Jabalpur in Wright Town and Ricchai areas.

Telecom factories were established for production and supply of telecom towers, telephone poles, line jack units and other accessories. Since advancement of telecom sector telecom factories faced tough time in fulfilling workload due to stopping production of outdated telecom accessories.
Later, telecom factories managed to maintain its existence by starting production of PLB HDPE telecom ducts. Initiative of fibre cable production project brought a ray of hope for desired development.
