Oppn Backs BJP MP’s Call for Improved BSNL Net Coverage
Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, BJP MP from Jodhpur on Wednesday received unexpected support from Opposition members when he reminded Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Ravi Shankar Prasad that “Charity begins at Home” drawing his attention to the poor Wi-fi and broadband services provided inside the Parliament House complex. The minister was replying about tele-density in the country and performance of state-owned BSNL.
Shekhawat said the minister is trying to revive BSNL but he would like to know about the Wi-fi facilities in the Parliament galleries and the “so- called broadband” equipped computers. “If you are trying to bring in reforms then I would say charity begins at home. Please tell us what action the government is taking to rectify these issues related to parliament,” Shaekhawat said amid applause from Opposition benches. Prasad promptly promised to do the needful but not without taking a dig at the Congress saying , “If they had paid attention to such issues in the last 10 years, BSNL would have been in a better position.”
