BSNL to improve connectivity in Indore with 40 new BTS

INDORE: Aiming to make Indore a part of 'Digital India' initiative to connect rural areas with high speed internet, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, (BSNL) would work out a road map for the same. This was stated by M R Rawat, senior general manager, BSNL while addressing a press conference on Wednesday.

He said, "Telecommunication is a sector which is constantly growing. Our focus would be on maintenance and working would be such that continuous development takes place. We would be installing 40 base transceiver station (BTS) across the region for facilitating connectivity."

Speaking about revival of landline connection, he said, "Presently there are 96,000 landline connections in city. We are receiving positive response from our customers and those disconnected users who have joined us back."

Indore, being one of the highest revenue getter for the company was ranked third in the country. Revenue collection during 2014-15 stood at Rs 114 crore. "We are placed after Surat and Ahmedabad. For past two years more than Rs 100 crore has been collected by the division. Throughout the country there are 40 districts whose revenue is more than Rs 100 crore," said Piyush Khare, former senior general manager, BSNL.

Speaking about network problems and call drop issues in city, Khare, said, "South pockets of the city have been facing some network issues. But we are working on it. Certain sectors have been identified which are facing connectivity and call drop issues and appropriate steps are being taken to resolve the issue."
