The government has also announced an 'attractive' voluntary retirement scheme (VRS) for BSNL and MTNL employees after announcing the merger of the two telcos.
"If an employee is 53-and-a-half years old and opts for VRS, he will get 125 per cent salary, pension and gratuity till the age of 60," Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ravi Shankar Prasad said at the press briefing after the Cabinet meeting.

Additionally, it offers unlimited voice calls to home network as well as roaming calls, except Mumbai and Delhi circles. It also includes 500 SMS messages.

NEW DELHI: Over the top (OTT) player YuppTV on Monday entered into a triple play partnership with BSNL to offer video content and broadband technology services to mobile and fixed line users.

In a statement, the video content provider said that given BSNL’s wide reach especially in tier 2 & 3 markets with a fervent mobile base, it has the potential of providing Triple play services to any corner in the country.

New Delhi: In a relief to the cash-strapped telecom PSU, Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) is set to roll out 4G Services by the end of this financial year, said PK Purwar, CMD, BSNL.
