BSNL announces free 4G SIM offer for new users from July 1

 Government-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is giving free 4G SIM cards to new as well as MNP port-in customers from today, July 1, 2021, till September 30, 2021. The offer was first introduced in April this year and was meant to expire in June. It now seems that the telco has extended the free 4G SIM offer till September. However, as of now, the offer is available in the Kerala circle and might also extend to other telecom circles.

BSNL’s 4G SIM card costs Rs 20 which will be waived off for new users and MNP Port In customers who are getting the first recharge coupon greater than Rs 100. BSNL Free 4G SIM offer can be availed from BSNL Customer Service Centers (BSNL CSCs) and from BSNL's retail outlets.

“In order to gain the customer base and increase revenue and to achieve the monthly SIM sales target, approval of the competent authority is hereby conveyed to offer free 4G SIM with effect from 1st July 2021 for New connections/MNP till 30th September 2021. The Free SIM offer is applicable for all Prepaid Plans for FRC>Rs.100/-” BSNL in a statement noted.

BSNL has introduced and relaunched many prepaid plans like the Rs 249 prepaid plan which is a first recharge coupon, the Rs 298 prepaid plan on a regular basis, and Rs 398 prepaid plan on a promotional basis.
BSNL Rs 249 and Rs 298 prepaid plans: Since users have to opt for a first recharge coupon which is priced above Rs 100, they can go for an FRC of Rs 249 that gives 2GB daily data and a validity of 60 days.

These plans were regularised to give daily data with unlimited calling and SMS benefits. While the Rs 249 prepaid plan has a validity of 60 days, the Rs 298 prepaid plan comes for a 56-day validity. While the Rs 298 prepaid plan gives 1Gb daily data, the Rs 249 prepaid plan was again revised to give 2GB daily data for a validity of 60 days. BSNL’s Rs 298 prepaid plan has a validity of 56 days.

BSNL, as a promotional discount offer, is also giving Rs 600 discount to its landline customers who want to migrate to Bharat Fibre to the Home (FTTH) connection. Existing BSNL landline customers in all telecom circles can upgrade to BSNL Bharat Fiber (FTTH) to avail of the new discount scheme. BSNL also allows customers to retain their existing Landline number while migrating to FTTH. However, this facility is available only in selected exchange areas where the next generation telephone equipment has been installed.As noted above, the offer is promotional in nature and will be valid for 90 days from June 14, 2021. Existing BSNL customers who do not have a broadband connection can opt for this offer.
