BSNL to launch LFMT in Bokaro

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will soon  launch application-based VoIP Calling service-- Limited Fixed Mobile Telephony (LFMT) in Bokaro.

LFMT is an app that virtually turns mobiles into cordless phone working in sync with landlines within the home premises, an official informed.
“It allows the customer to use his mobile phone to make and receive landline calls without getting charged to their mobile number account. To avail the service, customers will need BSNL’s landline, mobile, broadband connectivity”, added the official.
According to the technical experts, this is like the extension of cordless phone service on smartphones. This service can be availed of as an add-on service for existing BSNL customers having BSNL broadband or new customers opting for BSNL Broadband Fibre to the Home (FTTH).
A separate telephone number will be provided to customers to avail of this service, he said.
The customer will have to download an application on their mobiles to make the calls and he has to pay charges for both landline and mobile per minute. The advantage with the LFMT service is that customers can use their smartphones like land phones in their residences as well as in the offices.

Customers can get landline facilities without having landlines. The contacts and logs stored in smartphones could be used for making calls. The service will be useful for better voice quality where the mobile signal is poor, explained the expert.
