Number of BSNL Landline customers continues to decrease in Darbhanga

BSNL Landline service customers continues to decrease due frequent technological faults and poor customer support.According to an estimate , about 7000 landline subscribers have surrendered their handsets in the last five years. There were 19,000 customers in 2010 which has now been reduced to 12,000.

The company has 2 lakhs mobile customers but this count is also getting affected by MNP where customers are switching over to other service providers while keeping the same number. On the mobile network front, however ,BSNL seems to be working on upgrading and adding new BTS towers for better services. The number of BTS towers increased from 98 in 2009 to 115 in the current year. The department aims to add 50 more towers in the coming months.
There is an often complaint that the service of BSNL network is interrupted in the villages due to low signal , call drop or no network at times. There seems to be a better popularity of Airtel and someother service providers in these areas due to better connectivity and increased coverage area.
