BSNL connecting villages at a click


INDORE: Aiming to connect panchayats through broadband under 'Digital India' project, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has installed high speed internet optical fibre with a speed of 100 Mbps in different villages of the region. 

Celebrating last day of 'Digital India' week on Wednesday, BSNL, Indore circle, general manager MR Rawat said, "During the week we have given live demonstration of internet to around 350 school kids of Indore. To promote e-governance and transform India into a knowledge hub, we have been working for providing internet connectivity." 

Ten village panchayats of Depalpur district, 35km from Indore, have been connected with high-speed internet service under this project. Aataheda, Jalalpur, Khajraya, Banedia, Khatwadi, Gangajal Khedi, Pakipura, Chanded, Khadi and Arodakota are panchayats that have been connected. "Optical fibres have been placed across all villages," a BSNL official said. 

BSNL, Indore circle, has begun the work to connect 335 village panchayats with high-speed internet. "The work is nearing completion and we will be working to introduce modern telecommunication techniques in villages," said an official. E-payment and other e-transactions were taught on the last day of the 'Digital India' week.
