Double shock to China: BSNL 4G tender canceled, Chinese companies will also be out of highway project

China has suffered a double setback on the border with India. The Department of Telecom on Wednesday canceled the BSNL tender for 4G upgradation. The tender was canceled after the central government refused BSNL to use the equipment of the Chinese company in the upgrade. At the same time, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari announced a ban on the involvement of Chinese companies in highway projects. Gadkari said that if a Chinese company tries to join the project through a joint venture, it will also be stopped.

Sources said that a new tender will be issued for BSNL soon. There will be an emphasis on Make in India along with boosting local capacity. It is believed that Chinese companies providing equipment for up-gradation will be excluded. In fact, apart from BSNL, the government has also asked other government companies MTNL not to use Chinese equipment in a 4G upgrade.
Policy on the ban on Chinese companies soon: Gadkari

Gadkari said that we will not give contracts to those joint ventures in the highway project in which the Chinese company will participate. If he comes to India through a joint venture, he will still be excluded. The policy of banning Chinese companies will be introduced soon. In addition, the government will also ensure that Chinese investors are kept away from the MSME sector. Gadkari also has the responsibility of the MSME Ministry.
