Members of the All-India BSNL Pensioners’ Welfare Association staged a
protest and observed hunger strike over revision in pension at the BSNL
office in Bharat Nagar on Thursday.
The protesters reached outside the BSNL office and raised slogans against the Union Government and demanded revision in their pension.
The protest was observed after a nationwide call was given by the national unit of the BSNL pensioners’ association.
Balbeer Singh Chahal, general secretary of the association, said, “We demand that the Union Government must revise our pensions based on the pay commission guidelines under the Department of Telecommunications (DOT). We have been demanding the revision for a long time now and if the government does not fulfil our demand, we would intensify our protest in future.”
