Thiruvananthapuram: The BSNL move to discontinue
with the concessional offers for voice calls and SMSs for 2 days in
connection with the New Year was withdrawn on Wednesday following talks
held with the chief minister and the BSNL officials.
In a BSNL press release, the company had stated that all concessional rates for voice calls and SMSs will not be applicable for 2 days on December 31 and January 1. On Dec 31, BSNL discontinued the scheme and it was met with wide protests from customers across the state. BSNL stated that the blackout was done as per the directive of the Telecom Regulatory Authority.
SMS, Friends and Family/free calls/ various package schemes were suspended on Wednesday and Thursday. Customers were put to hardship due to this. They agitated against this move saying it was done without any prior notice.
