BSNL - Corporation in the dock

The drive to demolish unauthorised constructions in the city, particularly along storm water canals, following the downpour on April 21 and 22, has brought to the fore laxity on the part of Corporation officials in allotting TC numbers. The drive conducted by the district administration found TC numbers in several unauthorised buildings, which were demolished during Operation Flood. Officials in the administration say a probe could establish whether the allotment was due to laxity or corruption. Now the moot question is whether the district administration, which has won accolades for showing steadfastness in removing encroachments, will go the extra mile in ordering a probe to find how unauthorised buildings were allotted TC numbers.

Moreover, it should fix responsibility and punish those involved in the allocation process.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has been pulling out all stops to prevent erosion in its customer base in recent years.

The company came up with their best offer yet earlier last week, when it introduced unlimited free calling from its landline phones to all landline and mobile phones of all service providers’ networks from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

At the press conference to announce this new offer, the company also tempted journalists to apply for mobile connections by distributing two recharge coupons worth Rs.220 to all of them.
Though the ones who had BSNL sims were glad at the free recharge, the others were seen contemplating whether to apply for new connections to avail themselves of the offer.

Things it seems have improved a bit over the past few months at the company, with less frequent call drops and disruptions.

Even through the hard times at the national level with mounting losses, the Kerala circle had maintained its status as the only one making substantial profits.
