Government-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited is giving 30 days additional validity with its Rs 1999 prepaid plan for a promotional period. This plan offers 365 days validity on a regular basis, but offer it will offer 30 days of additional validity and will give a total of 395 days of validity. The additional validity offer is promotional and will be available till March 31, 2021. The last few days have been eventful for BSNL. Last week, the state-run telco reportedly said that the bids submitted by domestic vendors are almost 89 per cent higher than the lowest bidder for its 4G network tender. State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has introduced a new First Recharge (FRC) of Rs 47 for the prepaid subscribers. The FRC 47 is applicable only to new customers who are performing their first recharge. The plan comes with voice calling, data and SMS benefits for 28 days. It is the cheapest unlimited combo prepaid plan offered by any telecom operator in India right now. The telco might have introduced this recharge to boost the new subscriber additions. The management of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has failed in implementing the State-owned firm’s revival package to restore its financial health and disburse salaries on time, according to an employees’ union.

Govt has no plan to close down BSNL, MTNL: Telecom Ministry tells Lok Sabha
The government has no plan to close down loss-making public sector telecom firms BSNL and MTNL, Minister of State for Telecom Sanjay Dhotre told Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
The minister shared that BSNL's loss has swelled to Rs 15,500 crore from Rs 14,904 crore, and that of MTNL increased to Rs 3,811 crore from Rs 3,398 crore between 2019-20 and 2018-19.
