MUMBAI:
While all major telecom operators have already gained highly from 4G
roll-out, state-owned operators BSNL and MTNL have been left behind in
the race due to impending 4G spectrum. Survival of both the companies
highly depends on 4G services roll-out. However, according to a PTI
report, department of telecom (DoT) is planning to seek the Cabinet's
approval in the next two months for the allocation of 4G spectrum to
these two firms.

BSNL launches 4G in Andhra Pradesh circle, hopes for growth in subscription base
VIJAYAWADA: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Andhra Pradesh Circle, has launched mobile 4G services across the State on Monday. Chief General Manager, Telecom (CGMT), AP Circle, A Purnachandra Rao, launched the 4G services and stated that the services would help the BSNL post a big growth in its subscriber base.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), which earlier
today announced its tie-up with Amazon has now revealed its plans for a
potential tie-up with leading content aggregator Netflix. V Sundar, BSNL
Telangana Telecom Circle Chief General Manager has confirmed this news
to reporters at PTI, but he did not reveal what the tie-up will
potentially offer to the customers.

BSNL 4G Service May Start Earlier than Expected as DoT Plans to Approach Union Cabinet for Early Allocation
MTNL and BSNL had
been wanting to acquire 4G airwaves for a while. Recently, the DoT
(Department of Telecommunications) accepted the state-owned
telecommunication operators proposal. DoT will now be approaching the
Union Cabinet in a couple of months for the same. The Union Cabinet will
be the one assigning the 4G spectrum to both the telcos. It is expected
that the approval will be granted by the end of 2018.
