BSNL: Homegrown 4G to Reduce Dependence on Foreign Vendors
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) will become the first telecom company in India to come out with homegrown 4G networks. All of the private telecom operators, including Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea, either partnered with Chinese vendors such as Huawei or European vendors including Nokia and Ericsson or Samsung from South Korea. India didn’t have a domestic company that could do what all these foreign vendors could do. So the telecom operators had no other option but to go ahead by partnering with the foreign vendors.
Rs 23K-cr BSNL, MTNL assets to be monetised
The Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) has approved monetisation of about 17 properties of Bharat Sanchar Nigam (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam (MTNL) valued collectively about Rs 23,358 crore in the first phase.

As per data shared by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), the telco’s total wireless user base declined to 113.98 million. BSNL: भागलपुर में बीएसएनएल की 3G सेवा अगले साल से बंद हो जायेगी. अब बीएसएनएल की योजना 4G सेवा बहाल करने की है. बताया जा रहा है कि इस साल 15 अगस्त से 4G सेवा बहाल कर दी जायेगी. इसके लिए भागलपुर और बांका जिले में 150 नये मोबाइल टावर लगाये जाने की योजना है. मालूम हो कि भागलपुर दूरसंचार जिले में अभी 270 मोबाइल टावर कार्यरत हैं.

In a written reply to a question on Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Communications Devusinh Chauhan informed that the government had approved the revival plan of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) on October 23, 2019, which inter-alia includes in-principle approval for merger of MTNL and BSNL. However, the proposal is currently under examination and stands deferred.
BSNL 4G Update: Telecom Minister Makes Major Announcement
India’s telecom minister, Ashwini Vaishnaw said in Lok Sabha that Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is planning to install 1.12 lakh mobile towers across India to roll out 4G services.
