BSNL services come under attack in Lok Sabha

Members in the Lok Sabha came down heavily on BSNL for "poor" services across the country as the government defended the telecom operator, saying it has been suffering since the days of UPA government.

The drive to demolish unauthorised constructions in the city, particularly along storm water canals, following the downpour on April 21 and 22, has brought to the fore laxity on the part of Corporation officials in allotting TC numbers. The drive conducted by the district administration found TC numbers in several unauthorised buildings, which were demolished during Operation Flood. Officials in the administration say a probe could establish whether the allotment was due to laxity or corruption. Now the moot question is whether the district administration, which has won accolades for showing steadfastness in removing encroachments, will go the extra mile in ordering a probe to find how unauthorised buildings were allotted TC numbers.

Good News : Road - digging charges cut by half for govt agencies

PUNE: The standing committee on Tuesday approved a proposal to give 50% concession in road-digging charges to government agencies like the BSNL and power utilities.

Private Telecom Operators owe interconnection usage charges (IUC) of Rs 1,142.73 Crore, BSNL to take legal action

State run PSU, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is thinking seriously about taking legal action against private telecom service providers who have not paid their dues concerning interconnection usage charges (IUC).

The list includes leading private operators like Bharti Airtel, Vodafone, Idea Cellular, Reliance Communications and Reliance Jio Infocomm and companies who have closed their operations ( Loop Telecom, S-Tel, Etisalat and others ) after the Supreme Court verdict in 2012.
