As many as 200 villages in Tamil Nadu will get the
digital network service of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) as a part
of the Prime Minister’s vision to bring 2.5-lakh panchayats under the
National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN), said Minister for Communication
and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad here on Monday.

Dept of posts looks to go corporate
The department of posts has
prepared a blueprint that includes a drive to corporatise itself. The
plan is to create a holding company that will eventually have five
independent entities under it. To begin with, it will have two
independent companies - one each for banking and insurance.
The plan is similar to the move in 2000, when the telecom operation of the department of telecommunications were spun off into a separate entity, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), which today offers telecom services across the country, except Delhi and Mumbai.

Manipur : BSNL employees blamed for alleged malpractice
IMPHAL: Federation of All Tribal Youth Clubs, Manipur (FATYCM) has said on Sunday that the most affordable Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) service in Manipur is quite dismal.
FATYCM has urged the general manager of BSNL to ensure effective service in the state, a press release said. It said there are reports on BSNL employees’ malpractice despite being the most affordable telephone service in the state.

will enable State Bank of India (SBI) to offer mobile financial
