New scheme of BSNL providing Wi-Fi modem with full cashback offer till Mar 31

New Delhi, Feb 23 : State-run telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new scheme for acquiring BSNL Wi-Fi broadband modems at a cost of Rs 1500 wherein customers shall be given Rs 100 per month as cashback for 15 months.

BSNL to invest Rs 6,000 crore for setting up 40,000 wi-fi hotspots

In huge financial relief to state-run telecom companies, the Union Cabinet has approved hiving off BSNL's tower assets into a separate company and offered Rs 627.20 crore as compensation to BSNL and its metro counterpart MTNL for surrendering CDMA spectrum that was auctioned in March this year. The Cabinet on Wednesday gave an 'in-principle' approval to hive off tower assets, a person familiar with the development said.

Govt to use BSNL muscle to push internet services

The department of telecommunications (DoT) is chalking out a strategy to promote internet services, especially in small towns and areas, through state-run BSNL to bridge the digital divide. This will be in line with government’s vision of Digital India. “Now, we are planning to rope in BSNL for spreading and creating internet awareness. BSNL already offers services, mainly voice, at a subsidised rate in small and remote areas, which will now be extended to internet services,” a senior official from DoT said.

BSNL will take final call on closure of wimax service at some locations

New Delhi : State-owned telecommunications company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), has decided to close down its wimax service in some circles, where there are less customers and sites are faulty.

An official of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited said that, "There are around 1.15 to 1.2 lakh wimax customers on BSNL network across 20 BSNL telecom circles.

BSNL asks customers not to use Paytm

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has warned telephone subscribers against payment of telephone bills through Paytm mobile wallet transaction system.
A press note issued by the Chief General Manager, BSNL, here on Monday said Paytm was not authorised to collect BSNL bill payments. BSNL, it said, would disconnect the services of customers who remit payments through Paytm.

BSNL to start 3G in Jaisalmer in 3-4 months

JAISALMER: BSNL will offer 3G services here within the next 3-4 months and is setting up 38 towers for mobile connectivity, an official said.

Call drops: Prasad asks telcos to shape up, or face action
