New Delhi, Jul 8 (PTI) In line with the asset monetisation plans for
state-owned telecom firms BSNL and MTNL, four consultants including
CBRE, JLL and Knight Frank have been roped in to gauge the market
appetite and assess the process that could be adopted, a top company
official said.
A
preliminary report on the land monetisation process is likely to be
submitted by the month-end, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director P K
Purwar added.

The Union government has started the monetisation of landholdings of

New Delhi. The process of selling assets of
Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) and Bharat Sanchar Nigam
Limited (BSNL) i.e. asset monetization has been greatly accelerated. The
central government has started the process of landholding of BSNL and
MTNL. In its first phase, the Department of Investment and Public Asset
Management (DIPAM) has entrusted consultancy firms CBRE Group, Jones
Lang LaSalle (JLL), and Knight Frank to explore possibilities of selling
properties in Corona Works. They will submit their report by the end of
this month.

Bracing up for competition with its private counterparts, state run
telecom company BSNL has launched a new broadband internet plan with 100
GB of internet data available in just Rs 499 for a period of 30 months.
The new CUL broadband monthly plan is available in almost all the BSNL
jurisdictions except in Andaman and Nicobar, Rajasthan, West Bengal, and
Kerala. Unlike many other special plans being provided by the other
private telcos, the internet plan launched by BSNL has been rolled out
on a regular basis. The plan was announced by the company on its Chennai
circular website where it also mentioned barring some left out
jurisdictions, the new plan will be available across the country.
BSNL’s ₹599 Work from Home Prepaid Plan to provide 5GB/day for 90 days
BSNL launched its new prepaid tariff voucher plan for the wireless
consumers keeping in mind the Work from Home scenario during this
pandemic. The plan is called Combo599 that costs ₹599 and valid for 90
days.
India’s 5G trial conditions may trip China; Huawei, ZTE may find difficult to meet these IB demands
There may have been some diplomatic breakthrough in the border
stand-off with China but the same cannot be said about the impending 5G
trials for which all operators are partnering with one of the two
Chinese vendors — Huawei and ZTE. Although the trials take place with
very limited spectrum and a few base stations and are aimed at fixing
the glitches, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) is understood to have
hardened its stance on two counts — remote access and data storage. The
agency is reportedly against data going outside the country during the
trials and it also does not want remote access to be granted to the
Chinese vendors.

BSNL Launches Rs. 94, Rs. 95 Prepaid Recharge Plans With 3GB High-Speed Data, 100 Voice Calling Minutes
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has new recharge plans — the Rs.
94 ‘Advance Per Minute' and Rs. 95 ‘Advance Per Second' plans. The new
BSNL prepaid recharge plans include 3GB high-speed data for 90 days as
well as free access to personalised ringback tones (PRBT) for 60 days.
While the Rs. 94 prepaid plan is available with a pulse rate of 60
seconds, the Rs. 95 plan comes with a pulse rate of one second. The
pulse rate is notably the minimum duration for which a voice call is
charged by the operator.

Tech Mahindra Likely to Bid for BSNL 4G Tender
India’s fifth-largest IT service company Tech Mahindra
is diving into the revised tender of the state-owned telco BSNL to
supply the 4G equipment. Tech Mahindra will team up with ITI and other
local companies who have experience in creating telecom software and
services. As reported by ET Telecom, C.P. Gurnani, who is the CEO and
managing director of Tech Mahindra, stated that the company is ready to
build the digital highway for 4G or 5G. He also added that the technology is mature and network transition can be done to create enough bandwidth.

Tech Mahindra To Bid For BSNL’s 4G Tender, To Take On Jio, Huawei And ZTE
Technology company and a subsidiary of the Mahindra Group, Tech Mahindra will now bid for the revised tender to supply equipment for fourth-generation (4G) mobile networks to state-owned BSNL.
Last week, BSNL cancelled the tender for Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) for the upgradation of the existing 4G network across 47,000 sites and building new capabilities in Mumbai and Delhi. This was after the government barred state-run telecom firms to purchase equipment from Chinese companies such as Huawei and ZTE, in the wake of border clashes between the two countries in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley last month. ZTE had partnered with Nokia to bid for the tender, which is estimated to be worth INR 9000 Cr.
