Telecom Commission asks DoT to review its stance on BSNL’s 900 MHz spectrum issue

The Telecom Commission has directed the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to review its stance on taking back spectrum in the 900 MHz band from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL). The commission has also asked the telecom department to give its recommendations on the matter.

भारत संचार निगम लिमिटेड (बीएसएनएल) के वित्तीय संकट को दूर करने और उसके पुनरुद्धार के लिए उसके 1411 करोड़ रूपये के सरकारी ऋण को माफ कर दिया गया है।
संचार और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री रविशंकर प्रसाद ने आज राज्यसभा को बताया कि बीएसएनएल के 1411 करोड़ रुपये के सरकारी ऋण को माफ करने के साथ-साथ 6 सेवा क्षेत्रों में ब्रॉडबैंड वायरलेस अभिगम (बीडब्ल्यूए) स्पेक्ट्रम की वापसी पर उसे 6724.51 करोड़ रूपये की वित्तीय सहायता भी दी गई है।

(i)           50 MB free Data (to be consumed within 30 days) will be given with all Plan vouchers. Above scheme will be applicable forprepaid plans only in which no free data is given. However, plans wherein less than 50 MB free data is being given shall be offered additional freebies in the above scheme to make the total freebies equal to 50 MB data. BSNL makes profit in Kerala, J&K and Odisha

IT and Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad informed the Rajya Sabha that BSNL has made profit in only three territorial circles of Kerala, Jammu & Kashmir and Odisha in 2013-14. The company has recorded profits of Rs 396.80 crore in Kerala, Rs 9.37 crore in J&K and Rs 5.16 crore in Odisha.

BSNL warns its retail customers against reselling and misusing the Broadband services

The story of a guy who set up seven BSNL broadband connections along with a WiFi router and started selling the connection for a pittance of Rs.50 per month has caught the officials attention. The Broadband services was allegedly sold for over 2000 customers in the village by placing the routers at designated places. It is illegal for a BSNL retail customer to resell the broadband services.
