BSNL Finally Rolls Out 4G In This State; 12,000 3G Towers To Be Converted Into 4G Using This Technology

Till now, the BSNL consumers in Kerala have been missing out on 4G.

But now those days are over since the consumers of the telco in South India might soon get the ability to enjoy 4G, as per a new report by Mathrubhumi.

4G Services In Kerala

Under this plan, around 15,000 network towers in Southern India will be upgraded to offer 4G connectivity.

To be specific, around 80% out of these 15,000 towers are present in Kerala.

Normally, these towers are equipped with Nokia’s BTS or Base Transceiver Station.

Now, they will get an additional system to transmit the 4G network.

Recently, the management of BSNL (Bharti Sanchar Nigam Limited) approved the project.

Since, the project mandates the need for the permission of the board director.

With this move, the 4G spectrum can finally be used to offer the service.

Earlier, 4G spectrum was allocated to the telco back in 2018 as part of a revival package.

Better Internet Facility

After completion of this process, BSNL customers will finally be able to access better internet facilities.

But to have this, the BSNL will be required to pay a whopping Rs 30 crore on a monthly basis to make use of 4G connectivity in the country, to use the spectrum that had been allotted to the telco by the Indian government.

But, it doest look like a burden to BSNL, despite having lost ground to competitors such as Bharti Airtel and Reliance Jio.

Since, this move will definitely help in providing a better service to consumers.

It will also help in increasing revenues by capturing more customers in the region.

Earlier this plan was proposed with the process of installing 4G systems by BSNL having been dropped due to the tender invitation which included a new guideline that mandates 20% Make-in-India equipment.

BSNL owns around 60,000 towers spread across the country of India as of date.

Apart from this, the telco had recently taken steps that could take it closer to the private telecom companies as it has  finally started with the rollout of an SMS based sign up service.

The consumers who are interested in subscribing to a BSNL service can do so by sending the right message depending on what kind of connection they would like to have.
