announced that it may refund the CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) cost,
with new option as “working CPE Buyback” for external and internal
equipments which are in good working condition.

As of our knowledge, we can have BSNL Broadband, BSNL Fibre To The Home (FTTH), BSNL WiMAX, BSNL EVDO (Broadband on CDMA), BSNL Wi-Fi Hotspots etc., These are different technologies, through which is BSNL offering broadband services. Each Technology is having its own scope of area.
These technologies like BSNL FTTH , BSNL Wired broadband services are
meant for both rural and urban areas, where the end points are near to
the telephone exchange. Coming to BSNL Wi-Fi hot spots only the signal
perimeter is the limitation, mainly useful for concentrated populous
areas like malls, airports, stations etc., BSNL WiMax in other way can
be understood as long distance WiFi technology.
This BSNL WiMAX is useful for remote areas where the BSNL 3G signal is poor and unable to lay cable etc., BSNL EVDO is high speed data card on CDMA technology, its limitation is only the signal strength. In the Circles lie, where the 3G signal is best in class and also WiFi hotspots are inplace, BSNL has withdrawn WiMax Spectrum from those circles and given back the license to DOT and had generated some revenue from that which it is going to spend on new technologies and to reach new areas with improvised Quality of Service.
BSNL WiMAX customers who pays CPE cost for any type of CPE purchase while taking up the connection along with any BSNL Wireless Broadband Plans and not using using the services now, and if your equipment is in working condition, you might get back the refund an amount of Rs.500.
In order to give more satisfactory services to WiMAX customers, now BSNL announced that they will take all type of the WiMAX equipments back from customers and will pay Rs.500 to subscriber, who are not using the services, where this policy is going to be implemented across India.
