BSNL issues 65 SIM cards in one name

How many cell phone Subscriber Identity Module or SIM cards can be purchased by a subscriber from a given mobile operator company?

An unusual question this but it is being raised rather vehemently in Adilabad district after discovery of a subscriber from Ichoda being issued as many as 65 SIM cards on his name by the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).

And no, the subscriber, a businessman, Vinjhrawat Amanjit Singh, was not aware of so many cards being issued on his name. This is a pointer towards loopholes in the system which urgently requires plugging.
One fine morning, Amanjit Singh found the 4 BSNL SIM cards which were issued on his name and were being used by family members blocked. On inquiry with BSNL officials at Ichoda, he found to his consternation that no less than 65 SIMs were active on his name.

The puzzled subscriber was quick enough to get those numbers blocked and informed Ichoda police through a petition. He is now worried if SIM cards have been purchased in his name from other cell phone companies operating in the district.

A BSNL official said the limit on issue of SIM cards on a single identity is just eight. Not wanting his identity to be made public, he said this unusual phenomenon needs proper investigation.
